Past Events:
250th Anniversary Celebration Between May 2019 and May 2020 we celebrated the 250th Anniversary of Georgetown Lutheran Church's congregation, which has gathered at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Volta Place NW since our founding. The keystone of our milestone year was Celebration Sunday, held October 20, 2019. We welcomed Bishop Leila Ortiz of the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Synod, ELCA as a special guest. A new musical anthem"Rededication," for choir, piano and trumpet was commissioned for the celebration, by composer Ken Lowenberg, using lyrics based on Isaiah 58:6-2 that were adapted by congregation and choir member Adam Orshefsky. GLC extends its special thanks to Bacchus Wine Cellar, the Georgetown Club, and Georgetown Cupcake for their generous donations that made this event possible. The 250th celebration was covered by The Georgetowner, in their article 250 Years of Reaching Out in Georgetown. Please see below for a selection of photos from the event. |
