Georgetown's oldest congregation, founded in May 1769, celebrating 250 years! At the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Volta Place NW, in Washington, D.C.
In honor of GLC’s 250th Anniversary, we are restoring and improving our historic building and gardens. As a congregation, we are dedicated to welcoming members of the community and caring for our neighbors. Our principal aim is to increase visitors’ access to our building, and enlarge the amount of usable outdoor space, while returning portions of our building – particularly our 1914 bell tower – to their historic appearance.
There's a place for you at Georgetown Lutheran Church. Join us for online worship, Sundays at 10 AM, during Covid-19. Interested in learning more or joining us? Click here for the GLC homepage.
We need your support to make these projects a reality!

FAQ
Why donate to these projects? Why now? This campaign achieves both immediate repair needs and strategic renovations and improvements. An anniversary like this is a significant milestone, and this campaign invites donors to contribute meaningfully to historic preservation, inclusive welcome, and service to our community.
How does this affect our regular GLC budget? Gifts to the historic restoration of the building should be over and above regular weekly offering. Your offerings to the general fund support the ongoing ministry and mission of GLC - this campaign is separately funded.
Are my gifts tax-deductible? Yes, like any charitable donation to GLC. Your contributions are confidentially recorded by our financial secretary, who provides a giving statement annually and at any other time. Questions? Contact glcfinancialsecretary@gmail.com.
Can I share with friends? Are we seeking community/non-member gifts? Yes! We know that many friends, neighbors, former members, and others interested in church history, Georgetown, or historic preservation, may be excited to contribute.
